About Babbette and Babbette's Book Blog

I'm a thirty-something recovering English teacher who works in healthcare by day and moonlights as a photographer.

That said, I love books. I don't remember when I didn't read or didn't love books. I was raised by an English teacher who also loved to read and so from a pretty early age, I remember reading and talking about books. And yes, I was one of those who read by flashlight when I was supposed to be asleep.

So, I was an English major because I realized that I could get a diploma for doing this. And, I became an English teacher because I thought I could get paid for it. (I was wrong about that one!) After I left the classroom, I helped to start one book club to feed my addiction. When I moved from that area, I coerced my way into an already established one. (;-) to my SOC sistas.)

And because that still doesn't seem to be enough, I created Babbette's Book Blog. While BBB is mostly about books, I also enjoy cooking, photography and family, so occasionally you'll see a bit of that here as well.

PS - Some have asked about the name, Babbette. No, it isn't my real name. I've always wanted a pen name, and while reading Suite Francaise I came across the name as a pet name for one of Némirovsky's daughter's whose real name was Elisabeth. I fell in love.
